FAQ

Most frequently asked questions

What does the first visit include?

The first visit includes an initial interview, a physical examination, postural assessment, palpation of the spine by the chiropractor, and a thermographic examination. During this visit, the chiropractor will discuss health objectives and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Can I get adjusted on the first day?

Yes, from the first day you can have your spine adjusted, depending on whether the chiropractor recommends it as appropriate.

How many visits do I need to relieve my pain?

The number of visits you’ll need depends on your condition, age, and many other factors. Some patients see improvements after just a few visits, while others may require long-term regular treatment. Your chiropractor will discuss the best treatment plan with you during your first visit.

How can an adjustment relieve my pain if it has nothing to do with it?

Chiropractic adjustments can help relieve pain by restoring the correct alignment of the spine and enhancing the function of the nervous system. If there’s a subluxation or misalignment in the spine, it can affect the function of the nerves traveling through it, causing pain and other symptoms. The chiropractic adjustment aims to correct these subluxations to improve your health and well-being.

It’s important to communicate to the chiropractor about any prior health condition or specific concern you may have to ensure personalized and safe care.

Is chiropractic care suitable for pregnant women?

Yes, chiropractic care can be beneficial for pregnant women. Many pregnant women experience changes in posture and pain associated with weight gain and hormonal changes. A specialized chiropractor can gently adjust the spine and provide pain relief, as well as improve overall comfort during pregnancy.

What happens during a treatment session?

During a chiropractic treatment session, the chiropractor will locate the subluxations and perform the appropriate adjustment, which might involve quick and controlled movements on the affected joint or spine. The process is painless, and many patients experience a sense of release and relaxation after the adjustment. The idea is to correct and stabilize the body so it functions properly.

What is a vertebral subluxation?

A vertebral subluxation is a misalignment or abnormal movement of a vertebra in the spine. This can cause interference in the nervous system, affecting communication between the brain and the body. Chiropractors work to correct these subluxations through chiropractic adjustments to enhance overall health and well-being.

What is the educational background of chiropractors?

Is chiropractic suitable for older people?

Yes, chiropractic can be beneficial for older people. As we age, it’s common to experience problems related to the spine, joints, and mobility. Chiropractic can help improve function and reduce pain in these areas, thus enhancing overall quality of life.

What is the minimum age recommended for chiropractic treatment?

Yes, chiropractic care can be beneficial in managing stress. By making adjustments, the function of the nervous system can be improved, which can help reduce the negative effects of stress on the body. Additionally, we offer complementary approaches such as relaxation techniques and guidance on a healthy lifestyle.

What should I bring to my first visit to the chiropractic clinic?

For your first visit, it is advisable to bring your medical history, x-rays, magnetic resonance images (report and images) or reports from other relevant tests, and any other document related to your health condition. It’s also helpful to wear comfortable and flexible clothing, as you will need to change clothes for the physical examination.

Is chiropractic painful?

Chiropractic is not painful. During a chiropractic adjustment, you might feel slight pressure or a stretching sensation in the treated area, but individuals typically do not experience pain. Chiropractors use gentle and precise techniques to ensure the patient’s comfort and safety.

What is that 'crack' sound I feel? Are they my bones? It scares me.

The “crack” sound that can be heard during a chiropractic adjustment is known as “joint cavitation”. It’s not the sound of your bones breaking, as sometimes believed, but rather a release of gases that are present in the joints, such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen. This phenomenon is similar to the noise heard when opening a bottle of champagne.

Is it good to 'crack' one's own neck? And the back?

It is not recommended because it gives too much mobility to areas that shouldn’t move more. The chiropractor will only ‘crack’ the necessary areas. If you do it because you feel relief, this comes from a release of endorphins, but you could enter a vicious cycle. If you have any questions, contact us, and we will explain it to you in detail.
